Meal Prepping and Organisation #betterlife

Check out these top tips for meal planning, so that you can breeze into the new week, and maybe grab a few more moments in bed too.

Prepare your breakfast the night before

It’s can be wonderful to head to bed in the knowledge that your breakfast is ready and waiting for you in the fridge.

Breakfast meal prepping not only saves you heaps of time and buys you more time in bed, if often means that you make healthier decisions for your morning meal, as all the hard work and calculated thinking has gone into the dish the night before.

Overnight oats are a brilliant recipe to try out. Just take one glass jar and fill it with one cup of oats and two cups of your favourite milk. Feel free to add sugar for sweetness, or if you fancy, drop a few berries in for a hint of natural sugar. Leaving the oats overnight means by the morning they’re super fluffy and creamy, and putting them in the jar means that if you’re in a rush – you can just put the lid on and head out the door!

Make simple dishes

When you meal prep, it’s important to focus on simple dishes with minimal ingredients. This way, it’s easier to keep track of what you have and what you need to purchase when you’re out and about. Simple dishes with clear components will make meal prepping super accessible!

Invest in good storage

Investing in great storage is the most important step towards starting on meal prepping. Although plastic storage tends to be cheaper, it does also tend to stain easily, picking up residue from previous meals. Getting glass containers in the best choice if you’re serious about prepping your meals – they’re durable, portable and will keep your food fresh for days.

Make healthy snacks

It’s not just meals that need prepping, snacks can also be made at home and taken on the go. Not only does this save heaps of money, but it also tends to be the much healthier choice! Cutting up fresh fruit before heading out the door stops you from buying expensive pre cut servings, whilst foods like carrot sticks crackers can also easily be taken on the go.

Assemble ingredients

If you’re still unsure about meal prepping, but you’re still interested in speeding up the cooking process, then meal assembling might be the thing for you! Just put all the ingredients in a ziplock bag or tub, ready to be dropped into a pan and cooked up when you feel like it. It might not sound like much, but it saves on heaps of time!

Utilise the freezer

Make the most of the freezer! If you felt likeΒ  it, you could easily cook up main meals for the whole of the week and freeze them. Think practically, and if you’ve got the time, you might as well go for it!
