Sleep isn’t the only thing that is affected by travelling, being constantly on the go can also have a big impact on overall health and wellbeing.
Don’t worry, the sluggish after affects of travel can be combatted by a little bit of pre planning, follow these tips here to bringing your healthy lifestyle abroad with you.
Pack Healthy Snacks
One of the major pitfalls of maintaining a healthy diet whilst travelling definitely comes in the form of convenience food. When tired and hungry, we tend to reach for refined carbs whilst travelling, usually costing us money and sourced from fast food restaurants. A great way to get around this is to pack your own healthy snacks. Invest in some plastic tubs for carrying your snacks, and replenish and restock them whilst out and about from supermarkets. Eating healthy all comes down to planning- if you have healthy snacks already on you- you shouldn’t feel the need to purchase fast food.
Plan a few workouts
Although the idea of working out on holiday can seem a little strange, if you’re going for a long period of time, and would love to maintain your fitness levels, working out on holiday can be a great way keep moving. Whether it’s going for a walk on the beach each morning, doing some yoga in your bedroom or opting to walk instead of taking the taxi- small changes always seem to add up!
Travelling, especially train flights, can really take their toll on our bodies, often causing stiff joints and a decrease in blood flow. A great way solve this, and to feel much more energised, is to do some simple stretches each morning before starting the day.
Lots of sleep!
There’s no avoiding the fact that travel can massively disrupt both quantity and quality of sleep. A great way to get around this is to ensure that you get as much shut eye as possible during your travels. Whilst coffee is a necessity for being on the move for many, try to avoid it after 2pm, this way you’ll most likely fall asleep with ease after getting to your destination.
Drink Lots of Water
Another key component of staying healthy- drinking lots of water. Make sure you are never without it whilst on the move.
A key component of staying healthy whilst on the move is ensuring that you eat a healthy and nutritious breakfast to keep you powered for a day of travelling. Opt for slow release porridge oats with plenty of fruit and some honey for a good dose of slow release carbs.
Take vitamins along with you
Don’t leave your routine at home. A great way to maintain health and well being whilst on the move is to take your essentials with you. Whether that’s your daily dose of vitamins; protein shakes or your reusable water bottle. Maintaining your staples really helps to improve your heath whilst globe trotting.
Whizz up some smoothies
Whilst travelling, it can be tricky to get hold of fresh fruit and vegetables. A great way to get around this is to consume them right at the start of the day. Whiz up a smoothie and carry it in a travel bottle, or grab a smoothie on the go to get your dose of vitamins and minerals to kick start a day of travelling right. All posts
