Cook up a storm.

Weekends are definitely the time to cook up a big, healthy and hearty breakfast. Pancakes, waffles, smoothies, take the time to whip up something special for the people you love.

Focus on friends and family.

During the week, everyone seems to have their own agenda – the majority of us tend to live in their own world.

So, during the weekend, it’s the perfect time to get chatting to people, and to reconnect with friends and family.

Maybe head out for a walk for a catch up, or go to brunch with your family, it’s all about reconnecting, it really does make for a healthy and happy weekend experience.

Get some extra sleep.

Probably one of the best known activities for the weekend: catching up on sleep.

For a healthy and happy experience, it’s probably best to put some time aside for grabbing a few extra moments in bed, whether that’s sleeping, or just relaxing and taking some time to think through the day ahead.

Think about it, when was the last time you just lay there for 15-20 minutes and did nothing?

Usually your mornings probably consist of you getting up and out of the house, so just take a few moments to experience the bliss of being within your own head.

Try out a new hobby.

Weekends are the perfect time to indulge in one of your hobbies! Often during the week, we can find ourselves far too tired to cary out any hobbies after work, so the weekend can be a great time reignite your passions for activities outside of work.

Avoid the TV.

Although for many – flicking on the TV at the weekend is the ultimate form of relaxation and indulgence, relying too heavily on television during your days off from work can mean that you end up spending far too much time in front of the box.

Spending hours watching the same show can often mean that you are left feeling lethargic at the end of the day, and can have a negative affect on brain health.

Challenge yourself to not turn it on for the whole 48 hours, to see how much you can get done in the mean time.

Plan an exciting Sunday.

Sunday’s – although made for relaxing, are often stained with the prospect of heading back to work or school the following day.

In a bid to stop this from impacting on the day too much, plan something exciting for the Sunday evening, whether that’s heading to the cinema, enjoying a meal with friends and family or even trying out a new hobby, any of these make for a great distraction and will mean that you end the weekend on a high.

Take your time.

One of the main secrets to a healthy and happy weekend is to take your time in everything you do. For example, if fitness is your passion, yet you usually find yourself rushing through every workout before heading out the door, take time at the weekend to really enjoy your exercise.

Maybe head out for a long run, or opt for a longer workout video than usual, take time warming up and maybe get other family members involved.

It’s all about taking something that you rush through in the week, and making it your own at the weekend.
